John
Austin
John Austin is a longtime friend and incredible singer/songwriter.
He has put out 5 records. In 1996 he recorded Byzantium
at Nickel & Dime Studios where I was studio manager and
assistant engineer. Byzantium is an amzaing full production
record, but at the time I told John he should really do a
stripped down acoustic record with me in the future. That
record was not recorded, but was affectionitely referred to
as Strummy, Strummy, Strum Strum for the next 6 years.
John moved around a lot, and we would always talk about actually
recording Strummy, but never did. He made two more
amazing records during that time, If I Was A Latin King
and Busted At The Pearly Gates. Finally, in September
2003, one month before he moved out of Atlanta (again) we
recorded Strummy. Realizing Strummy was a stupid
name for a CD, John renamed it AustinEcho,
and it became a collaboration with his wife Erin. Stripped
down & intimate, AustinEcho is a CD of amazing
songs. AustinEcho
will be released on PASTE
RECORDS in January 2004. Please check it out.
