Austin is an old friend and talented singer/songwriter.
He has put out several records over the years. They are all

And if you don't know about PasteMusic, you should. Paste

Most of February was spent working with Clay
Cook on his first full length CD. Clay is a singer/songwriter
from Atlanta. He has got to be one of the best musicians I
have ever worked with. He is playing every instrument on his
CD. And he is absolutely amazing on every one. He is also
known, or not so known, for his work with the infamous
John Mayer. John and Clay were a duo back in '98 and '99.
Clay co-wrote many of John's songs. Anyway, mixing has just
begun on Clay's CD. We handed it over to Russ Fowler for the
Mix. He'll be mixing at Southern Living At It's Finest Studio.
I've known Russ for years and he is an incredible mixing engineer.

Winter 2001 / Jan. 2002
Our goal for 2002 is to actually update this section monthly!
As for the past several months, here is what's been going
on: In September and October of 2001 Glenn engineered the
new Indigo Girls record. Recording was done at Tree Sound
Studios. The legendary Peter Collins produced and the equally
legendary Bob Clearmountain mixed it! It is set to be released
Feb. 24, 2002.
In November, Glenn took a week off to get married! The lucky
lady(actually, Glenn is the lucky one!!) was Cynthia Osborn.
Cynthia is a graphic designer for The Cartoon Network. She
is also a wonderful singer and has fronted Atlanta bands like
Salamander Tales and Elroy's Big Machine. After a short (too
short) honeymoon, Glenn got right back to work on Shawn Mullins
new record. Shawn took the holidays off and is set to come
back to Orphan Studio in Feb. to finish. Singer/Songwriter
THE LAU, from Amsterdam, came in the first week of Jan. to
have Sarah Bettens, of K's Choice, sing on a track. Amy Ray
also came in that week to sing on a solo record by Kaia, of
the North Carolina band The Butchies. Singer/Songwriter Carolyn
Evens, from Charlston, SC, is coming to Orphan to record 6
tracks for her forthcoming record. And Singer/Songwriter Sam
Shaber, from New York, is coming to Orphan mid Jan. to finish

The Year in Review : 2000
2000 was a great year for Orphan Studio. We are in our fourth year of operation at Antone Street and believe it or not, the suite has been construction free for quite some time now. However there is a storage room that Tommy Smeltzer, of Sixty Second Airborne, has his eye on, that he says, 'is in desperate need of storage cabinets…'
Orphan Studio shares the suite with two other companies. Sixty Second Airborne is a creative ad agency that writes and produces radio commercials. The other company is On…4 Productions. They do everything from mass and short-run CD and Cassette duplication to graphic design.
Since I rarely updated our old website, here is a "Music Year In Review" and a "Commercial Year In Review."
2000 started off great with the production of Shawn Mullins second major label release, "Beneath The Velvet Sun." Shawn is longtime friend of mine and this was the sixth record of his that I have worked on. Orphan Studio actually went mobile and transported all the necessary gear to Crossover Rehearsal Studios. Crossover gave us two warehouse size rehearsal rooms to work in. An incredible team worked on the record which included co-producer Anthony J. Resta. He is an incredible 'sound designer/loop/overall vibe creator.' His engineer, Kariadi Sutedja, manned the controls of one ProTools rig and I the other. With two engineers working on the record, we finished it in about five weeks.
Which brings us to February. The team worked so well together, Anthony insisted that I be the other engineer on his next project, which was Collective Soul's album "Blender." I worked with them for most of February.
March saw Shawn Mullins back at Orphan Studio. The record company thought the record we had done could use a couple more songs. So Shawn came to Orphan Studio to do some writing and pre-production with producer Julianne Raymond (Hole, Fastball, and Chris Perez) and longtime friend and fello songwriter Mathew Kahler. The three tracks they came up with ended up being recorded in Los Angeles. March also saw Amy Ray (Indigo Girls) at Orphan Studio. Amy had been recording basic tracks for her solo record in South Carolina at Chris Stamey's (of the dBs) studio. Orphan Studio became Amy's Atlanta studio where she recorded vocals and guitars and did some editing. Amy came in about once a month for the next several months to finish the record.
The Summer brought me to another studio, Music By Night, to engineer Mathew Kahler's CD "Out Of The Blue". Shawn Mullins produced the record. I also recorded a live record for Karyn Malone, who is longtime Atlanta icon Michelle Malone's mom. It was recorded at Eddie's Attic and mixed back at Orphan Studio. I was back at Eddie's in July to record John Mayer live.
Then in August John Mayer came to Orphan Studio to record a track for the next AWARE Records compilation. His song, 'My Stupid Mouth', recorded at Orphan Studio last year, was also chosen to be on the compilation.
October brought Jennifer Daniels to Orphan Studio to record her second CD with me. Jennifer is a talented singer/songwriter from Chattanooga TN.
On the Commercial side of production... Orphan Studio worked on some very creative radio campaigns. Throughout the year Orphan Studio did all the radio production for Tanger Outlets, SimplyHealth.com, and Honda Carland. Some other clients included Hooper's Hooch, WB36, PowerTrust.com,
Netbank.com, Dish Network, GA Lottery, and Dallas Dodge. The Fletcher Martin agency brought the Arby's Breakfast radio campaign to Orphan Studio. We were asked to create an 'Earcon' for the campaign as well as record six spots. I also had the pleasure of being an instructor for The Portfolio Center Art School, working with a copywriting class. Orphan Studio acted as a classroom and produced student radio ads to be used in their portfolios.
Overall 2000 was a great year. I had the pleasure of working with some talented artists and work on some great projects.
Thanks for everyone's support.
